Over time Google is getting more and more intrusive with its toolbar. It started as a nice helpful tool and a quick way to search. But, with each new version, Google is trying to add more branding and slowly take over.
These are sneaky tactics, but as any organization gets overly huge, this is always what happens. Anyway, with taskbar changes in Windows 7, the Google toolbar sneaks its logo right in beside the Microsoft logo on the vertically arranged icons.
It now acts as a secondary start button within Windows and it can launch applications too. There are other features in the new toolbar that also make IE8 look and feel like Google Chrome. Luckily, you can opt out of these features. But why even bother installing the toolbar in the first place.
A toolbar should serve a useful purpose for speeding up certain functions, not just to take over your computer and rebrand it into Google. Try it out and see what you think.
