It won’t be too long until some netbooks start shipping with a stripped down Windows 7 Starter Edition operating system. This has raised the question of whether netbooks can support the premium editions of Windows 7 and the answer is yes.
The hardware limitations of netbooks should not affect the functionality of Windows 7 and any SKU of WIndows 7 can be run on netbooks. The Windows 7 OS has a smaller footprint and will have improved reliability, faster boot-up and shut-down and improved power management. With these features and the way Windows 7 has been engineered, it can be run on small notebook PCs and netbooks without any problem.
Customers will have more flexibility in choosing a system for their needs. If they are purchasing a netbook or lower end notebook, they won’t just be restricted to lesser versions of the operating system.
