The next version of Microsoft Office is to be released sometime early next year and Microsoft have decided to call it Office 2010 – I guess there are no surprises there. The latest version of Office will most likely not be shipping with Windows 7, but will be released sometime afterwards.

Office 2010 will include slimmed down versions of Word, Excel and Powerpoint that will allow users to create and edit documents via a web browser. There will also be free access available to the web versions, but this will be supported by ads. Ad free versions will be available too, but at a cost.

Towards the end of this year Microsoft will release a beta of Office 2010. They want hundreds of thousands of users to test out this beta. So stay tuned, we will update you as soon as the beta is available.
