Mainstream support for Windows XP has officially ended as of 14 April.  XP users will no longer be able to get complementary support from Microsoft for Windows XP.

Microsoft will continue to release security updates for Windows XP. This should continue for the next 5 years through to 2014. After that point, XP should officially be dead. But who knows, it has continued to kick on so far. The mainstream support was supposed to end earlier, but has been extended on more than one occasion.

If you get desperate, you can still purchase support from Microsoft for XP related issues. So don’t worry about ditching your XP yet.
