Finally some good news on the economy – Intel has reported that its PC sales are improving. For the first quarter of 2009, Intel has done quite well in light of the current recession and economic situation. Sales are down a lot from the same time last year, however, the earnings per share for the first quarter of 11c was well above the forecasted 3c per share.
This is definitely good news and with Intel being the world’s largest semiconductor company, their results do indicate the overall demand for personal computers and technology. It is still hard to predict the results for the 2nd quarter, but time will tell.
Obviously as recession hits and times are bad, there will be a large decline in the sale of PCs. But as things improve, more consumers and businesses start buying PCs again. So any upward trend in this area is a good sign.
