One of the most annoying things in IE7 is how they removed the menu bar. Its pretty smart thinking, who would need a menu right?

Well this can be fixed by right clicking somewhere in the tool bar, then checking the “Menu Bar” option. Maybe you will be happy with this, but unlike IE6, it won’t quite be in the right position, which is right at the top.

In order to fix this, you can do a quick registry hack. Just be careful whenever editing the registry as a wrong move can lead to problems.

Fix the IE7 Menu Bar

  • Open the registry editor: Click start -> run -> regedit
  • Browse to the following registry key
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser\
  • Create a new DWORD value, call it: ITBar7Position
  • Give the new DWORD a value of 1
  • Done
  • You can reverse this by setting the DWORD value to 0.

Now the IE7 menu bar should appear visible and at the top (where it should be).
