If you deal with Asian languages such as Japanese and Chinese, you may have trouble viewing the characters on web pages and in documents. In order to get this working properly you may need to alter the language options. This is a pretty quick update, and afterwards you should have no problem viewing Chinese and Japanese symbols in documents and web pages.
To install the files for Asian languages on Windows XP, just follow the steps below. Note: You will require a reboot after its done.
- Start -> Control Panel
- Select Regional and Language Options
- Click on the Languages tab
- Check the box “Install files for East Asian Languages”
- The install will probably be around 200MB and you will need the XP CD
- Reboot
