Microsoft has been very busy lately with Windows 7, but this has not stopped them from developing their latest OS – Windows Mobile 6.5.
The latest Windows Mobile OS was recently displayed at the Mobile World Congress (MWC). Steve Ballmer discussed the plan for Microsoft to deliver a single platform of Windows which could stretch across all devices: phones, computers, TVs etc. The plan is to make the phone experience much more similar to the desktop experience. Microsoft want their phone users to feel at home when using the devices, the same way they would when using their desktop. The phone will just allow them to connect to what they want, from wherever they want.
Microsoft are aiming their new OS to help deliver the first generation of Windows Phones. So with Windows Mobile 6.5, you can expect an entirely new experience with new interfaces and much more. There will also be improved touch capability and a better web browsing experience.
To help deliver the experience of Windows Phones, Microsoft is also revealing My Phone and the Windows Marketplace. The marketplace will provide thousands of downloadable applications, similar to what is available for the iPhone. The My Phone service will allow users to freely manage their device data via a remote web service. This will allow them to back up data and update to newer phones with ease.
