Windows 7 has received more good feedback, this time from a senior Intel developer. The Intel developer has claimed Windows 7 beta to be very stable compared with previous Windows pre release versions. In fact, he was even quoted as saying that Windows 7 was “incredibly stable”.
While this doesn’t mean that Windows 7 is the most stable operating system, it merely shows that up against previous betas of Windows, this version has proven to be a real standout contender.
From our own experience testing Windows 7 so far, we have also been impressed. It has definitely had more of an impact in our office than Windows Vista ever did. In fact, some of the pre-build versions have gained more acceptance here than Windows Vista.
But can Windows 7 save Microsoft?
Well, Windows 7 will really have to kick some ass in order to save Microsoft from the economic crisis. With 5,000 job cuts coming in the next year and a half, things are definitely not rosy.
The decline in PC sales and increase in cheap netbooks has also affected Microsoft sales. Less PCs, means less sales of Windows.
While Windows 7 may actually turn out to be a great OS, it still probably won’t give the expected boost, unless other factors of the market also start regaining strength. Either way, Windows 7 profits will show up on the books for 2010. So I think 2009 is going to be a tough year for everyone, except Apple of course.
