Well as you are undoubtedly aware, the PC market has been sliding for sometime now. Desktop sales are dropping and so too are the accessories and peripherals market. Because obviously one will have an affect on the other. It eventually becomes a chain reaction.
The latest bad news in the industry is that Logitech has reported a 70% loss and they intend to cut somewhere between 550-600 jobs. These are the biggest cuts in over 10 years and not a good sign of things to come.
Some of Logitechs poor performance is also due to the closure of the Circuit City retail chain. This will also have a strong affect on other manufacturers in the industry.
The net income of Logitech for the quarter ending 31 December 2008 was 41 million. This is down from 133 million in the same period the year before.
These trends will continue for awhile, but the extent of this is still unkown. So just get out there and start buying some computer stuff.
