If you are having troubles with your Windows Taskbar, you can try removing the following registry key. In most cases it should fix the problem.

However, before you try that, be sure that your taskbar isnt just hiding somewhere. It can be moved around and hidden. So check that you didn’t drag it below the screen or to the side somewhere.

If all else fails, try the following registry edit (note: editing the registry can be harmful and you do so at your own risk):

  • Click Start -> Run (or just type into the search box if using Vista)
  • Type “regedit”
  • Delete the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StuckRects

That should reset your taskbar to default. If it doesn’t then you might want to try a registry repair tool, and also run a spyware scan on your PC.
